How to Print the Menu Settings, Network Setup, and Other Internal Pages on a Lexmark E450dn Printer

ENUS25182Internal Pages

The printer has the ability to print many types of internal pages without being connected to a computer or to a network. These pages are printed by using the buttons on the operator panel located on the front of the printer. The three most useful internal pages are the menu settings page, the network setup page, and the font sample list. Printing these pages can be useful in a number of ways. For example:

  • If you are experiencing a configuration problem (for example, paper is feeding from the wrong tray), you can check the current printer settings to make sure they are all correct.
  • Keeping a printed copy of the menu settings and the network setup pages means you have a record of the printer's settings in case the printer is ever serviced or a setting is accidentally changed.
  • If you are experiencing problems with the printer, printing one of the internal pages can be a useful way of determining if the hardware of the printer is the source of the problem. If one of the internal pages prints correctly, the source of the printing problem is probably not the printer hardware. This is especially helpful in diagnosing communications problems (for example, if the printer does not respond at all when you send a print job to it).

Printing the Menu Settings Page

The most useful of the internal pages is the Menu Settings Page (sometimes referred to as an Internal Test Page). This page, or set of pages, shows all of the current user settings and code levels on the printer. You can also use the menu settings page to review the default printer settings and to verify that printer options are installed correctly. The menu settings page is also useful as a reference tool for locating items in the printer menu system.

Step Action
1Make sure the printer is on and at the Ready state.
2Make sure there is paper loaded in the paper tray.
3Press the Menu (
) button on the printer operator panel.
4Press the down arrow button (
) until the check mark on the left is in front of Reports.
5Press the select (
) button once. A new list of menu choices will appear.
6Press
until the check mark is in front of Menu Settings Page.
7Press
once more. The printer should display Printing Menu Settings Page and the menu settings page(s) will print out. NOTE: The printer will return to the Ready state after the menu settings page prints.

Printing the Network Setup Page

If the printer is attached to a network, printing a network setup page on the printer will verify the network connection. This page also provides information needed for configuring the printer for network printing.

6Press
until the check mark is in front of Network Setup Page. NOTE: If an optional internal print server is installed and you wish to see its settings, select Print Net1 Setup.
7Press
once more. The printer should display Printing Network Setup Page and the network settings page will print out. NOTE: The printer will return to the Ready state after the menu settings page prints.
8Check the first section on the network setup page to confirm that the CardStatus is “Connected”. If the card status is “Not Connected” , the LAN drop may not be active or the network cable may be malfunctioning.

Printing a Font Sample List

These pages show the list of PCL and PostScript fonts currently available for your printer. A sample of each available font is printed out. NOTE: The font sample list can be between two and ten pages long, depending on what options are installed.

6Press
until you see Print Fonts with the check mark in front of it.
7Press
once.
8You will see a choice between PCL Fonts and PostScript Fonts. Press
until the check mark is in front of the selection you wish to print.
9Press
once more. The printer will begin printing the font list pages. NOTE: The printer will return to the Ready state after printing the fonts pages.
