Solution: Lexmark Document Distributor
Overview:
The following procedure is when an administrator wants to setup the MFP’s home screen to show an embedded solution’s icon in a specific position.
In this case, the administrator can use the App Reservation function of Lexmark Document Distributor (LDD).
Procedure:
To access App Reservation, open Lexmark Management Console (LMC) then go to Device Groups> Print Release > Home Screen.
Select an eTask version.
Choose the Layout.
Select a button from the options available.
Choose App Reservation.
The Profile field will need to be populated with the App ID.
Click on Apply to save the changes on the home screen layout.
How to get the App ID of an embedded solution:
Access the embedded web server (EWS) by typing in the printer's IP address on the address bar of any browser.
Go to Settings > Embedded Solutions,Device Solutions or Apps.
Note:The embedded solution is labeled differently for each printer family. Check printer’s documentation on how to access the embedded solutions page.
Search for the embedded solution you need the ID of then stop or disable it.
Go to the printer’s SE page by opening
http://<printer_ip_address>/se

Click on Embedded Solutions > Set Logging Level. Set the value to Yes and click Submit.
Go back to the SE page and click on Embedded Solutions > Clear Log File. Select Yes and click Submit.
Click on Go back to main menu and click Log file. This file can also be accessed directly through this URL:
http://<printer_ip_address>/cgi-bin/prtapplog

You should see some text that looks like this:
You are ready to capture the App ID. Go back to the printer’s embedded solutions page (see #2) and start or enable the solution in question.
Go back to the printer’s Embedded Solutions log file (
http://<printer_ip_address>/cgi-bin/prtapplog
).
You should see new debug lines. Find the one that looks like this:
The line that says “Id = cardCopy.id” is what we need. In this case, cardCopy.id is the App ID.

IMPORTANT:
To use App Reservation, the app’s icon must first be visible on the printer’s home screen even before using function or LDD Home Screen setup. The procedure will not automatically enable icons.
