Unable to detect barcode resulting in scan failure issue

Issue description

When the end user uses Scan Center on a document that has a barcode, a scan failure occurs with the error message “Cannot detect barcode”.

• This issue occurs when the document contains a huge barcode that spans the whole width or height of the paper, i.e.less than 0.5 inch space left on the edges.
• This occurs because the app is not able to scan the entire barcode as parts of it are beyond the scanning scope.
• The app is unable to match the barcode template created in the Bar Code Discovery app for that document.

Solution



1. To resolve this issue, enable the Scan Edge to Edge setting as shown in the image below.

   


2. The following are additional recommended settings in Scan Center to improve barcode detection:

   • Content Type = Text/Photo
   • Orientation = should match to the Barcode Discovery setting when the template was created
   • Background Removal = ‑1
   • Darkness = 0
   • Compression= No Compression
   • Resolution= 300‑dpi
   • Contrast = 5
   • Sharpness = 5
   • Original Media Size= should match to Barcode Discovery setting when the template was created, or bigger
