Troubleshooting a 140.80A, 140.82A, 140.83A, or 140.84A service motor error

Issue description

The printer posts the occasional 140.80A, 140.82A, 140.83A, or 140.84A motor stall errors after printing.

Solution

Before you proceed with the steps below, make sure you have an extra Imaging Unit or the same printer model for testing.

  1. If a spare Imaging Unit is available, try swapping the supply and perform a test print to confirm a new Imaging Unit will fix the issue.

    Note: Check the status of supplies. Replace supplies that are low or empty. Check the imaging unit contacts for contamination or check the imaging unit for leaks and damage

  2. Transfer the Imaging Unit to a working printer then perform a test print.

    • If the error message reappears, replace the Imaging Unit under warranty.
    • If there is no issue, then proceed to Step 3.
  3. Update the printer firmware to the latest version. Follow steps outline in Downloading the latest Lexmark printer firmware to know how to check, download and update the printer firmware.
