244.46 or 245.56 paper jam error codes

Issue description

244.46 or 245.56 paper jam error codes caused by the optional 1500-sheet tray.

Possible causes:

These error codes occur when the paper does not reach the first sensor in the optional 1500-sheet tray.

  • Excessive curl in the paper stack—This issue is due to the poor quality of paper used or a humid environment, causing the paper to curl.
  • Folded paper at the bottom of the optional 1500-sheet tray paper stack—If the customer has not properly loaded and supported the paper, then the bottom sheets can fold over. This causes the top of the stack to be uneven and causes a paper jam.
  • Trapped sheet in the optional 1500-sheet tray—A sheet of paper that is pushed against the front panel of the optional 1500-sheet tray prevents sheets in the stack from being picked properly.

Solution

  • If the paper is excessively curled:
    • Remove the paper stack, and then flip it over.
    • If the 244.46 or 245.56 error codes persist, then remove and discard the paper stack and load the optional 1500-sheet tray with new sheets of paper.
  • If the paper is not curled:
    • Remove the paper stack from the optional 1500-sheet tray, and then check if the bottom sheets are folded over.
    • These sheets should be discarded, and then the optional 1500-sheet tray can be reloaded.

When the 244.46 or 245.56 paper jams persist:

  • Remove the jammed paper.
  • Check the paper stack for any sheets of paper loaded against the front panel. Remove these sheets, and then reload the tray
