Driver name change-PostScript (PS3) name changed to PostScript 3 Emulation

Highlights

  • The print driver name changed to PostScript 3 Emulation.
  • The installer will also show PostScript 3 Emulation.
    • Previous Package Name: Lexmark_Universal_v2_UD1_PostScript_MMDDYYYY.exe
    • Current Package Name: Lexmark_Universal_v2_UD1_PostScript_3_Emulation_MMDDYYYY.exe
  • MSI Installer will now be named as per the following syntax:
    • Previous design: print< Architecture >PS.msi
    • Current design: print< Architecture >PostScript_Emulation.msi
      • Architecture
        • 32: For x86-Bit OS (Operating Systems) architecture
        • 64: For x64-Bit OS (Operating Systems) architecture
  • The driver’s printer properties and printing preference window will also show PostScript Emulation instead of PostScript string.
  • Driver utilities are also affected by this change.
    • Example: Lexmark Printer Driver Configuration Utility (Used for applying setting through LDC)

Release

This change will be effective onwards UPD (Universal Print Driver) version: 3.0.2.0 and Generational Driver.

Known Issue

SymptomMitigation

After installing the latest PostScript 3 Emulation Driver the print driver will coexist (instead of updating) the previous version of PostScript driver.

This issue can be addressed by anyone of the following method:

  • Microsoft Printbrm Command-Line Tool
  • Driver switching
