Lexmark MS911 & MX91x ? The Print in a Long-Edge Fed (LEF) Paper Is Cut Off

What you will see

About an inch of the printout is cutoff when the paper is long-edge fed (LEF). This defect does not occur in short-edge feeding (SEF). The images below show the difference between short and long-edge feeding and their corresponding printouts.

NOTE:
The four red arrows depict the side of the paper that first enters the printer.

Possible causes

Any of the following can cause this type of print defect:

  • Contaminated laser lens
  • Scratched or creased Transfer belt
  • Toner dust or moisture build-up on the Transfer belt cleaner blade
  • Fuser exit rear-end memory

Suggested Remedy

The printer has several built-in cleaning methods that will allow you to clean the possible contaminated parts listed above. Utilizing the laser lens cleaner, corona wire cleaner and discharge brushes should resolve several types of print quality defect, including those shown in the preceding images.

The proper cleaning procedures are outlined in the printer’s User’s Guide under the section “Maintaining the Printer”. Click the appropriate printer model below to view its corresponding User’s Guide.

IMPORTANT! The printhead wiper and corona wire cleaner must be inserted all the way to the end of the slot when cleaning the laser lens and the corona wire, as the defects may come from the far side of the imaging system (just as shown in the sample images). Should this issue persist, please contact Lexmark Technical Support for other troubleshooting suggestions.
