Firmware Files Cannot Be Removed Or Recovered in Markvision Enterprise

What you will see on T654, X546, X543, E360, T642, T644, T640 and like products

Printer firmware files located in MVE appear stuck in the utility and cannot be removed nor utilized.

This means attempting to push these files to their respective devices results in a Communication Error and new copies of the same firmware files cannot be uploaded to MVE.

What else is known:

  • Re-uploading these firmware files results in an "Error, File upload Failed. File could not be uploaded to the server."
  • You are unsure of the presence of the firmware on the server.
  • A new and entirely different firmware package; i.e., MX811, can be uploaded to MVE and sent to a printer.

Suggested remedy

If you have already attempted to restart MVE, you can attempt to resolve this situation using the following steps:

First, In MVE... Second...Third... Lastly....

Identify the existence of a folder and the firmware file name within the temp/firmware directory on the server.

Locations

Before MVE v1.10: C:\Program Files(x86)\Lexmark\Markvision Enterprise\tomcat\temp\*.fls

MVE v1.10 or later: C:\Program Files (x86)\Lexmark\Markvision Enterprise\apps\library\firmware\*.fls

* firmware_file_name

Manually upload the .fls firmware flash file to the temp folder on the MVE server.

Rename the file to what it is looking for in the MSSQL database.

Under the framework schema, look for flashfile and flash_subsystems.

  1. Restart the MVE service.

  2. Again, attempt to remove the culprit firmware files.
