  • The PS Universal Printer Driver will not automatically detect the fax option card. Click here for illustration.
  • The PS System Driver has the fax option card as a default* installed feature (option). Click here for illustration.
  • If Fax is removed from the list of installed options, and thedriver's Ask Printer feature is selected, the driver may not repopulate the Fax option. Click here for illustration.
  • Users with older MFPs or users of Microsoft's Std. TCP/IP port monitor may require a manual installation of this option.

Run installation CD and see Driver Profiler compiled HTML (.chm) help files for more information.

'Script Install' and 'Driver Profiler' are also included with any administrator's package downloaded from Lexmark.com.

Explanation

The following factors control the absence of an installed Fax option:

  • Which driver type is being used; e.g., the PS UPD will not install or recognize the fax card automatically.
  • Generational printer driver differences that prevent the fax card from showing as an installed option.
  • The print monitor type (STD. Microsoft vs. Lexmark Enhanced Port) may prevent proper bi-directional signaling to the driver.
  • Intentional removal of the fax card option from the list of installed or available options.
