Overview
This article outlines the proper handling and replacement procedure of the Photoconductor Unit (PCU) for a Lexmark X86xe MFP.
Replacement/Installation Procedure

1 | Open the Front Door. Note: The photoconductor cannot be pulled out if Side Door A is closed.

2 | Lower Side Door A. | |
3 | Pull the photoconductor out of the MFP. Warning—Potential Damage: To avoid overexposing the photoconductor, do not leave the door open for more than ten minutes. Also place the photoconductor on a flat, clean surface. | |
4 | Unpack the new photoconductor unit. Warning! In order to avoid contamination, do not touch the blue, shiny surface of the drum. | |
5 | Align and insert the end of photoconductor unit. | |
6 | Remove the tape from the top of the photoconductor unit. Caution! Do not use a sharp object to remove the tape because it may damage the photoconductor unit. | |
7 | Push the photoconductor in as far as it will go. Note: The photoconductor clicks into place when correctly installed.

8 | Close Side Door A. | |
9 | Close the Front Door. Note: After performing the steps above, the MFP performs a motor cycle and clears the Replace Photoconductor warnings. Then the MFP returns to the Ready state.
