- If no Tractor 2 installed, proceed to Step 3.
|
2 | If Tractor 2 is installed, remove it and power on the printer again. - If the error does not show with Tractor 2 removed, then the option is causing the issue. Call Lexmark Technical Support to have it replaced.
- If the error persists even with Tractor 2 removed, proceed to Step 3.
|
3 | With the printer powered off, slide the printhead (where the ribbon is) all the way to the left until it stops. If it is already to the left, slide it first to the right and then to the left until it stops. This will reset the home position sensor. |
4 | Power on the printer again and see whether the error has cleared. If not, proceed to Step 5. |
5 | See whether the ribbon is seated correctly. Reseat it if necessary. Reboot the printer and see whether the error persists. If the error cleared, then an improper loading of the ribbon had caused the issue. Otherwise, proceed to Step 6 to continue with the troubleshooting. |
6 | Remove the ribbon and set the Forms Thickness Lever to “7”. Click here to locate. |
7 | Reboot the printer and print without the ribbon installed. - If error goes away with only the Power LED lit solid and Paper Out blinking, the ribbon was not correctly seated (probably due to a broken component). Examine the ribbon thoroughly to see whether there are any signs of broken or damaged components. Replace the ribbon if necessary.
- If error still comes up after the reboot or during printing, the Home Position Sensor and Carrier Unit will need to be replaced. Contact Lexmark Technical Support to set up service.
