945 Service Imaging error or Service Image Processing Unit Interrupt Handler Delayed Crash 109

Issue description

During a routine copy job, you receive a 24x Paper Jam message followed by a "945 Service Image Processing Unit Interrupt Handler delayed crash 109" error message.

Solution

For Lexmark X64x MFP Series

  1. Power off the MFP and wait for ten seconds before powering it back on.

  2. Print a menu settings page to obtain current device code level.

  3. If below .P367, please contact Lexmark Technical Support for further diagnosis and a possible firmware update may address this issue.

For Lexmark X85x MFP Series

  1. Power off the MFP and wait for ten seconds before powering it back on.

  2. Print a menu settings page to obtain current device code level (P478 or the latest).

  3. If the firmware is at the latest level, contact Lexmark Technical Support for further diagnosis and a possible remedy.

For X4600 Scanner-equipped models

  • Power off the MFP and wait for ten seconds before powering it back on.
  • If the error remains after restarting the MFP, download and update the firmware using the links below:
    • For T644 printer + 4600 scanner = P324
    • For C782 printer + 4600 scanner = P333
  • If the error persists, contact Lexmark Technical Support for further diagnosis and a possible remedy.

Firmware Update

Update the printer firmware.

Note:  Please refer to Firmware Update Instructions for steps in updating the printer firmware.

Explanation

The scanner continues to save images after a 240, 241, or 24x paper jam intervention request (IR) message. Because the printer cannot process print jobs in this IR state, the device generates the error witnessed to above.
