Recommended troubleshooting

  1. Try printing on recommended media that is dry and fresh out of a ream.

  2. Check the cartridge toner level. Replace the cartridge if the toner is low.

  3. Check that no obstructions black the laser path above the cartridge.

  4. Try printing with a different cartridge. Replace the cartridge if necessary.

  5. Check the transfer roll assembly for contamination or wear. Wipe toner and paper dust from the area under the transfer roll. Replace the transfer roll if needed.

  6. Check the charge roll assembly by removing the cartridge and lowering the front door halfway. Two small rolls will drop from the top of the printer. If lines on the charge roll correspond to lines on printed pages, replace the charge roll assembly.

  7. Check the metal cartridge electrical contacts. Click here to see contact locations. If any contacts are bent, dirty, or contaminated, please contact Lexmark Technical Support to set up service for this printer.

  8. If printout has only one vertical band down the page, measure the distance of the band from the edge of the paper. Should the distance be approximately 72mm (2.835 inches), replace the Fuser.

  9. A firmware update may improve print quality on a limited number of printers. T65x&X65x Print Quality Tool ? Very Light Vertical Stripes in Background for more information.

  10. If vertical lines, streaks, or bands persist, please contact Lexmark Technical Support.
