1 | Check the Input Sensor flag for physical damage through finger actuation. - If the flag won't bounce back to its original position after being actuated, replace the Duplex and Input Sensor Assembly (40X8043).
- If the sensor appears to be good, proceed with the next step.

2 | Access the printer’s Diagnostic Menu and perform the BASE SENSOR TEST. To do this: - A ‑ Power-On reset (POR) the printer while pressing the buttons 3 and 6 Power-On reset (POR) the printer while pressing the buttons 3 and 6.
- B ‑ From the Diagnostics menu, navigate to BASE SENSOR TEST.
- C ‑ Choose a sensor to be tested.
- D ‑ Manually actuate the sensor to verify that it toggles. If the sensor does not toggle, then it is malfunctioning. Replace the sensor that fails the test. Otherwise, proceed with the next step.

3 | Should all sensors past that BASE SENSOR TEST or if issue remains unresolved after replacing the Input Sensor, replace the printer's Controller Board. Use the appropriate part number below: - 40X9254 – If printer uses a Galvo printhead (LSU)
- 41X0485 – If printer uses a Polygon printhead (LSU).
