Printing in Wrong Paper Size on the Lexmark C925 and X925 Series Printers

Overview

If the printout is not in the desired page size, there may be an issue with a printer setting. One or more of the paper trays are not correctly registering the specified paper size. For example, the printer reads Universal-size paper as being loaded in a tray when actually Letter-size paper is loaded. To resolve this issue, please follow the suggestions below.

IMPORTANT! Please be aware that Trays 2 – 5 are auto-size sensed based on the location of the guides in the tray. This means that the size of the paper may differ by the position of the tray guides. However, Tray 1 does not have the "Auto Size Sensing" as do the other trays. Therefore, ensure the wheel on Tray 1 is set to the correct size. (Please click here

1Power off the printer/MFP and open the specified affected tray.

2Remove all paper from the tray. Look for obstructions and remove any you find. Also look for damage to the tray. If any parts appear damaged, a service call will likely be required to resolve the issue. 3Ensure that the desired paper size matches the paper in the tray. To check if the tray is set to correct paper size, see

To set the paper size of the tray, slide the tray guides to the desired size (e.g., Letter size). Then reload the tray with the specified paper. Close the tray and power on the printer/MFP.


Note:
If the guide is off more than two notches, the tray will sense the wrong size of the paper.

5Using the printer operator panel, verify whether the size of the paper loaded in the paper tray matches the Paper Size settings in the Paper Menu (e.g., Letter size). The User's Guide provides detailed instructions for navigating through the printer menus and changing the paper settings.

If Paper Size settings in the Paper Menu match the paper in the tray, resend the print job to the printer. Ensure the print job is requesting the correct size of paper. Did the issue return?

Yes: Continue to Step 7. No: If the page prints, the printer is functioning correctly.

Are you printing on regular plain bond copy paper? If not, try printing again with plain copy paper. This will eliminate specialty media as a possible partial cause of the issue. Resend the print job to the printer. Did the issue return?

Yes: If the error persists, a service action may be required in order to correct the issue. For assistance in setting up service, please contact Lexmark Technical Support or a local authorized service provider.No: If the page prints, the printer is functioning correctly. Pay close attention to the printer over the next few days, however, to see if the issue returns.
