Check whether the printer is compatible with the LDD version you are using. Refer to Supported Printers in the
LDD Administrator's Guide v.4.8
to check the printer list.
The printer must meet all the conditions on the discovery profile in LDD in order to be discovered. For example, the Serial Number and Contact Name values in the Discovery Profile should match the values in the target printer to be discovered. If one of the values does not match, the printer will not be discovered.
NOTE: It is recommended to fill in the printer's IP address ONLY when adding a device discovery profile. In this sample screenshot, the address field is outlined in red.
If the printer is protected by a PIN or password, tick the “Discover locked down devices” in LDD by going to the Lexmark Management Console (LMC) > Services > DeviceSecurity. In this sample screenshot, the check box is outlined in red.
The printer must be accessible or on the same network with your transaction server(s). You can run a simple test to verify this by opening the printer’s embedded webserver (EWS) on your server(s).
NOTE: If you have more than one transaction server, run the test on each of them.
The printer's SNMP v1,2c must be enabled, and the community name on the printer must match with the community name set in LDD. The following steps will show you where the options are located. In the printer's EWS (type the printer's IP address on a browser) > go to Settings > Network/Ports > SNMP.
In the Lexmark Management Console (LMC) > go to Services > SNMP > Parameters.
