Vertical dark streaks check

Issue description

When a user prints a document, they notice an irregular dark/black, vertical streak, or line (also known as powder defect) on certain parts of a printed page.

The following are also noticed whenever this issue occurs:

  • Print quality defect can usually start from the top of the page and stop anywhere on the page.
  • Print quality defect is always in the vertical orientation, however the length, and starting positions vary significantly.

Solution

  1. For a print quality defect of this type, it is always advisable to print the following:

    • Menu Settings Page – To check the levels of the consumable supplies (i.e., items such as imaging units, developer units and photoconductor units), because supplies that are low or near the end of their functional lives can cause various print quality issues independently of printer operation.

Note:  The User's Guide provides detailed instructions for navigating through the printer menus.

  2. Check which color is affected by the print quality issue. Remove that imaging unit and check the developer unit for any toner accumulation.

  3. Remove the developer unit from the imaging unit and shake each unit gently from side to side while holding them in a horizontal position.

  4. Place the developer units back on the Imaging unit. Reinstall the Imaging unit.

  5. Run color adjust: Print >Quality >Advanced Imaging>Color Adjust>Start, and print a test page.

If the issue persists, search for more information related to this issue or contact support for further assistance.
