Milky or runny prints on card stock

Issue description

The printed image appears with some faded parts on top of the page. This issue usually occurs when printing on a 110-lbs card stock and is primarily visible as a gloss if viewed at an angle. This print quality defect is referred to as a milky print or runny print, as shown below.

This issue occurs when the toner is close to the transfer belt as it enters the fuser, causing the toner to melt before pressure is applied to the media. The toner runs down the page and exposes the color of the underlying media to produce a milky or runny appearance.

Solution

1. Check the paper settings and make sure it matches the media loaded in the tray.



2. Try a fresh ream of paper and insert it into the tray.



3. If the issue persists, navigate to:

   Settings > Paper > Media Configuration > Media Type > select Card Stock.



4. Change the Weight to Light, and then tap Submit.
