What you will see

Unspecified devices named “IPP Alt 0 I/F - not intended for printer operation“ appearing within Device Manager after performing a printer USB Plug and Play. Refer to the following instances the said device name appears within Windows.

IMPORTANT!

  • This will not have any impact on the Print and Scan functionality.
  • This happens only to Windows 7 users. In Windows 8 and onwards, users will not encounter this, as the Microsoft WinUSB driver (for USB composite devices) is already pre-installed in the driver store (or system).

This will not have any impact on Print and Scan functionality.

Solution

In Windows 7, WinUSB driver package is not pre-installed in the driver store by Microsoft design. Thus, installing this driver additionally in Windows 7 system is required.

If the windows update is enabled, the Microsoft WinUSB Driver will automatically get downloaded and installed from Windows Update.

Otherwise, if Windows update is not enabled in the PC, you need to manually download the WinUSB driver package from Microsoft Update Catalog (click here to download) and install it manually. Refer to this screenshot below for the exact package that you need to download from Microsoft Catalog.
