Blurry or light scan/copy quality check

Issue description

Light text and blurry graphics are seen on the scan/copy output. Depending on how severe the scan/copy quality issue is, it can be on the outer vertical edges, or on the whole page itself.

Note:  The print output is fine, and this affects only either flatbed / front side ADF (FADF) scans, or back side ADF (BADF) scans. It is possible, but unlikely to affect both flatbed and ADF scans.

Solution

  1. Navigate to the Advanced Print Quality samples page and print them out.

    • Enter the Diagnostics menu, by pressing * * 3 6 on the control panel.
    • Then navigate to Advanced Print Quality Samples > Advanced Print Quality Test Pages.
  2. Verify whether the print samples are printed just fine, then proceed to the next step.

  3. Perform the following:

    • Scan either to the flash drive network or e-mail with a front-side ADF simplex copy.
    • Copy the samples with a front-side ADF simplex copy.
    • Place the printed originals facedown on the ADF and making a duplex scan or copy.
    • Scan/copy using the flatbed scanner.

Then check the blurriness of the scan/copy outputs.
