240.06, 240.06A, 240.06B Paper Jam Appears when Using the Multipurpose Feeder (MPF)

Issue description

When printing from the multipurpose feeder (MPF), a 240.06, 240.06A or 240.06B error message appears on the control panel.

Solution

This error message could simply mean that the Lexmark device needs some paper on the MPF.

  1. Clear the error message by performing these procedures below:

  2. Printing should resume after following the two steps. If error is not cleared, try these steps below:

    • Check the MPF tray for crumpled, damaged, or deformed media. Replace defective media sheets with a new set of sheets that are in good condition.
    • Check the media sheets, such as paper or labels, if they are flat and not curled. Fan the media to flatten the sheets before loading on MPF.
    • Flip over the stack of media from where the source (MPF) of the issue occurs.
    • If the error message continues, load a fresh ream of media in the MPF.
    • Do not overfill the MPF and make sure that the media is within the MPF fill indicator.
    • Make sure that the MPF guides are properly set to match the size of the media loaded in the tray.
    • Check the MPF paper settings and make sure that it matches the size and type of media loaded in the tray. (On printer panel, navigate to Settings-Paper-Tray Configuration-Paper Size/Type-Multipurpose Feeder-Size. Same path for Type)
  3. Check the MPF Pick Roller (Click here to view the location of MPF Pick Roller ).

    • Make sure the pick tires freely spin when turned by hand in the feed direction as shown in the video. There should be resistance in the other direction.
    • Check for any dirt or if the pick tires are worn out. The pick tires on the left (A) are in good condition while the pick tires on the right (B) need to be replaced.

Note:  If the pick tires does not meet the expected results/conditions, ask for a technician with new MPF pick tires.
