Hole punch unit (HPU) jam messages, i.e., 444.13, resulting from loose chads in and around the hole punch unit.

The following may be evidence that loose chads are the cause for an increase in number of HPU jam errors:

Suggested remedy

These false jams can occur if sensors along the paper path get blocked by loose chads. Here are some basic checks and maintenance tips to prevent this occurrence.

a. Remove the chad box and remove all loose chads.

b. Remove all loose chads from the cavity where the chad box normally resides. This area is inside the hole punch unit.

2Open the rear door and remove any loose chads.
3Examine the HPU output bin and remove any loose chads.
