How to Download and Install Print Driver

A print driver converts the data to be printed from a computer into a language that a printer can understand. A driver makes a device work on a computer, including allowing the computer to communicate with the printer.

1. Go to the Lexmark support website.



2. Enter the printer model name and then click Go.

   



3. Under Downloads tab, click the dropdown and select your computer Operating System and Version.

   
   Note: Refer to How to Determine If a Computer is Running Microsoft Windows or macOS to determine the operating system version running on your computer.



4. Click Complete List of Software. Select the appropriate print driver to install.

   

   1. Individual Driver Package

      • Windows OS Driver

        
        Note: For Windows OS, it is recommended to use Printer Control Language (PCL) driver for Monochrome devices and PostScript (PS) for Color devices.

      • Macintosh OS Driver

        
        Note: There are printers that do not have drivers or software available to download. Use the pre-installed or system driver in your operating system. Software Update is also recommended to update the driver availability in your operating system.

      • Linux OS Driver

        
        Note: There are printers that do not have drivers or software available to download. Use the pre-installed or system driver in your operating system. Software Update is also recommended to update the driver availability in your operating system.
