Troubleshooting 121.71 and 31.80E fuser error messages

Issue description

The [121.71] fuser error appears on the operator panel after the printer has been initially powered On.

A "Reinstall missing or unresponsive fuser [31.80E] recommended life exceeded [80.36]" message could also appear on the printer.

Both these issues can occur when printing a document and may cause some of the paper to get stuck in the printer.

Solution

1. Perform POR (power-on reset) or power the printer Off and power it back On after one minute.



2. Update the printer firmware to the latest version. Follow steps outline in Downloading the latest Lexmark printer firmware to know how to check, download and update the printer firmware.
