How to Resolve a Wireless Printing Issue when Using the Comcast/Xfinity and/or Rogers/Shaw Cable Modems

Issue Description:

Wireless connectivity issues are encountered when connecting Lexmark printers or any multi-function devices to certain models of wireless gateway modems which is supplied by Comcast/Xfinity1 and/or Rogers/Shaw2

  • Wireless connection is successful but unable to print

  • Printer obtains wireless network IP address via DHCP but still unable to print

  • Pinging the printer IP results in a large number of lost packets and/or ping timeouts

  • The embedded web server (EWS) intermittently loads when accessed

Issue reported with Hitron CGNV4 ) The gateways use an Atheros AR9381-AL1A chipset for the 2.4 GHz wireless network.


The firmware of the device will need to be updated to the latest version available on this link.

Refer to KB Article xref_HO550_xref for steps on how to update the printer firmware. Contact Lexmark Technical Support if unable to find the firmware release or update the firmware.
