Tray does not fully insert due to a raised lift plate

Issue description

Under normal conditions when the tray is pulled out of the printer, the lift plate is in its down or locked position.

On rare occasions, the lift plate is in its up position when the tray is pulled out. This condition prevents the tray from being fully inserted.

Solution

1. Remove the tray from the printer and place it on a flat surface.



2. Press the lift plate down until it is locked in place. There will be an audible click.



3. If the lift plate does not lock in place after pressing it down, check the lift plate locking mechanism.



4. Depress the button (push it toward the right) repeatedly to ensure it is not jammed.

   Note:  If it is jammed, contact Lexmark support for further assistance.



5. Insert the tray back into the printer.
