How to Create a PrintTrack Print Queue with Lexmark Print Management (LPM)

Overview:

PrintTrack is a feature of LPM wherein the print jobs are not held. The job is printed directly by the printer, so the user is no longer required to go to the printer in order to authenticate and release the job.

This is similar to direct TCP/IP, the only difference is that the job is tracked in LPM.

Note:
As with regular LPM queue, the LDD Software Client must be installed on the machine where the print object will be created.

Procedure:

  1. In the Add Printer Wizard, choose Local Printer > Create a new port and choose the type Lexmark Document Server Port - Enterprise.

  2. Name the port in this format: LDD_<IP-address-of-printer>; e.g., LDD_192.168.1.100

  3. Choose the LDD server, and then select "PrintTrack" for the Server Profile.

    Note:
Jobs will go straight to the printer specified in the port name but will get all the tracking data as if sent through Print Release.
