Print Release

No prompt to login when submitting a print job through Lexmark Print Management Client (LPMC)

Issue Description:

The user is not prompted to login when submitting a print job to the cloud for the first time through Lexmark Print Management Client (LPMC) or after uninstalling and reinstalling LPMC.

The entry log below is seen in the LPMC log. The entry log indicates that the print utility service (lpmc_pus.exe) is unable to launch the Print Release agent (lpmc_pra.exe) to let the user authenticate.

lpmc_pus.exe : ::CheckEachUserIfPRAisRuning(0) : number of lpmc_pra running: 0

lpmc_pus.exe : ::CheckEachUserIfPRAisRuning(0) : LPMC is uninstalled, preventing relaunch of PRA.

Solution:

  1. Reboot

    the computer.

  2. Make sure that the following services are running. Run services.msc to check.

    • Lexmark Print Capture Service
    • Lexmark Print Release Service
    • Lexmark Print Utility Service

  3. In the Task Manager, go to the Details tab. The following processes should be running.

    • lpmc_pcs.exe
    • lpmc_pra.exe
    • lpmc_prs.exe
    • lpmc_pus.exe

  4. If the lpmc_pra.exe is missing or not running in the Task Manager, then that is most likely the reason why there is no prompt to login. Follow the steps below to run the lpmc_pra.exe manually.

    1. Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Lexmark\Print Management Client and look for lpmc_pra.exe.

    2. Right-click lpmc_pra.exe and select Open or Run as Administrator.

    3. Go back to the Details tab in the Task Manager and see if the lpmc_pra.exe is now running. Reboot the computer if necessary.
