Issues using CSV import/export files with Lexmark Cloud Services (LCS)?

ENUS6937

Overview:

The following are issues found when using CSV import/export files with Lexmark Cloud Services (LCS)?:

  • CSV import fails, behaves erratically, or "Invalid file content" message is displayed.

  • Reports exported as CSV files are automatically displayed in the browser with no option to save.

Solutions:

CSV import failures

  1. "Return" characters are embedded in the CSV file. This can be caused by a user pressing Alt-Enter in a spreadsheet before saving the file as a CSV. Fix: The import process does not support these characters; they must be removed.

  2. If you try to import more than 1000 users via CSV file, you will get an "Invalid file content" message. Workaround: Break up the CSV file into separate files with less than 1000 entries each.

  3. CSV files created before LCS v1.2 must be updated to the new format. Fix: See admin guide for format requirements.

Unable to save exported CSV files

When using IE11 or Edge browsers and no spreadsheet application is installed, you will not get an option to save the CSV file, it will just be displayed in the browser.

Workaround:

Install a spreadsheet application or use a different browser.
