Solution
Although physically compatible, the MS53x, MS63x, MX53x, MX63x series printers and input options with serial numbers start with the 38S prefix are not backwards compatible with the MS31x, MS41x, MS51x, MS61x, MX31x, MX41x, MX51x, MX61x series printers and input options that start with the 36S prefix.
Do not combine printers and input options from the different product families in one printer setup.
Mixing of printers and input options from the products that are mentioned does not result in device breakage or a safety issue.
However, mixing of input options, renders the printer setup inoperable until the incompatible input option is removed.
