84x.xx error

Issue description

he printer posts an error code 84x.xx - where “x” denotes any numbers from 0 to 3 as listed among the following examples:

  • 840.01, 840.02
  • 842.00, 842.01, 842.02
  • 843.00, 843.01

Solution

An 84x.xx means that the printer's scanner is either disabled or failing.

  • For 840 error, the scanner is automatically disabled to allow you to continue to use the non-scanning features of the printer like printing. To re-enable scanner, perform any of the following methods:
    • Method 1: From the printer's embedded webserver (EWS)
    • Type the printer's IP address into the web browser's URL field and navigate to Settings > Device > Maintenance > Configuration Menu > Scanner Configuration > select Enabled and hit the Save button to save the changes and enable the scanner. In the sample screenshot from the right-hand side, the Enabled option is outlined in red.
    • Method 2: From the printer's control panel
    • Navigate to Settings > Device > Maintenance > Configuration Menu > Scanner Configuration > Disabled Scanner and select Enabled.

      • Note:  If the error persist, please contact Lexmark Technical Support to guide you with the appropriate troubleshooting steps.

  • For 842 and 843 errors, the entire printer is locked out and may need servicing. Contact Lexmark Technical Support .
