Auto-document feeder produces a grinding noise followed by potential pick issues and errors

Issue description

When feeding from the scanner automatic document feeder (ADF), you experience one or all of the following symptoms:

  • ADF top cover pops open on the rear side.
  • Grinding noise
  • Paper-pick failures
  • Paper jams

Solution

Check the followng scanner ADF guidelines:

  • Do not exceed the ADF's maximum tray capacity.
  • Make sure the ADF cover is fully closed.
  • Do not use unsupported media. Clickhere to view supported media.
