31.40C Reinstall missing or unresponsive cartridge

Issue description

The user encounters a “Reinstall missing or unresponsive cartridge [31.40C]” error message on the control panel with the same error also shown in the printer EWS.

Solution

1. Remove the toner cartridge and imaging unit.



2. Check whether the imaging unit installed is a genuine and supported Lexmark unit. Replace if non-genuine.



3. Check the imaging unit contacts for contamination.



4. Check the imaging unit for leaks and damage.



5. Re-install the supplies.
