Multiple or shingled sheets picked up by the automatic document feeder (ADF)

Issue description

Multiple sheets or shingled sheets of paper are pulled by the ADF, and can result in long-page ADF Jam error codes such as those ending in a 5, i.e. , 280.15.

Common causes of this issue include:

• Previously stapled pages
• Carbonless media
• Folded pages
• Media with pre-punched hole
• Edge welds formed in the punched area. Notice that many of the edges overlap.

Solution

1. Remove the stack of paper from the tray, fan the paper, reload it into the ADF tray, and retest.

   


2. Test with a different stack of paper.



3. Utilize the flatbed to scan your pages.
