202.xx paper jam error from possible fuser stall

Issue description

A 202.15 error code accompanies paper stalled near the fuser.

This error may be accompanied with the following printer settings and status:

  • Default media type is set to Plain
  • Lightweight paper with a smooth texture is loaded into the tray
  • High toner coverage
  • 120-K page count on (H models, e.g., MX621)
  • 150-K page count on (L&M models, e.g., MX321, MX521)

Solution

  1. Upgrade to the latest firmware available. A changed algorithm will automatically change the settings in an effort to avoid this fuser-stall situation.

  2. If upgrading the firmware is not an option, set the media type to Light, Texture to Smooth and Weight to Light.

    • If you are changing the media settings from the printer control panel, follow the instructions outlined here.
    • If you are doing so through EWS, follow the instructions below:
      1. Navigate to Settings > Paper from the printer or EWS.

      2. Change Type to Light, and then click Save.

      3. Under Media Configuration, for Media Type – Light, set the Texture to Smooth, and then click Save.

      4. The Tray Configuration Settings should reflect the changes as shown here.

Note:  Fuse grade issues might occur if normal or heavy media is used under light smooth media settings. Please ensure to change the media settings to its appropriate values if paper other than light smooth is used.
