Fuser grade issue is seen in the following conditions:

  • Media is heavy (i.e., 24#)
  • High coverage print
  • Cold environments

Check for the existence of non-genuine Lexmark supplies* or refilled cartridges. Use the online authentication tool to verify whether you have a Genuine Lexmark cartridge.

Is the cartridge genuine?

See Step 2.Contact your point of purchase for a possible a refund or to demand a genuine replacement cartridge.

Check the Paper Type for the media loaded in the printer's paper tray.

To do this from the home screen:

  • Navigate through Settings > Paper > Tray Configuration > Paper Size/Type > Tray 1 > Type .
  • Adjust to the exact paper type loaded in the tray(e.g., Plain, Transparency, Labels, Bond, Letterhead, Preprinted, Colored Paper, Light Paper, Rough/Cotton.)
  • Print a test page.

To do this from the Embedded Web Server (EWS):

  • Open a web browser and enter http://printer's_IP_address

    ¹

    into the address field.
  • Click Settings > Paper > Tray Configuration > Paper Size/Type > Tray 1 > Type .
  • Change the type, and click Save.
  • Print a test page.

Check the Paper Weight for the type ofmedia selected.

To do this from the home screen:

  • Navigate through Settings > Paper > Media Configuration > Media Types > Plain >Paper Weight.
  • Adjust to the exact paper weight loaded in the tray(e.g., Plain - Light, Medium or Heavy, Cardstock - Light, Medium, Heavy)
  • Print a test page.

To do this from the Embedded Web Server (EWS):

  • Open a web browser and enter http://printer's_IP_address

  • Click Settings > Paper > Media Configuration > Media Types > Plain > Weight.
  • Change the type, and click Save.
  • Print a test page.

Confirm whether the media meets the approved paper specifications. This is found in Paper and specialty media guide of the printer's User Guide.

Switch media to an approved media type and weight and perform a test print.

Change the paper settings to Heavy.

Settings > Paper > Media Configuration > Media Types > Plain >Paper Weight > Heavy.


NOTE:
Adjusting the paper weight to anything higher could possibly cause a paper curl issue. Make sure to perform this step only when the issue is caused by any of the conditions mentioned above.

    • Settings > Paper > Media Configuration > Media Types > Plain
  • Paper texture = Rough
    • Touch the drop-down arrow for paper Texture, then select Rough.
  • Paper weight = Heavy
    • Touch the drop-down arrow for paper Weight, then select Heavy.
