Dog ears on paper when feeding from the High Capacity Input Tray (HCIT)

Issue Description:

There is a large number of dog ears on paper from the High Capacity Input Tray (HCIT).

Solution:

Paper condition is most likely the cause for this issue.

  1. Paper condition

    Then...

Paper bent when loading the tray

Replace with fresh, undamaged, and correctly-sized paper.

Humid or moist paper is causing waves or ripples along the leading edge.

    Sheets poorly stacked in tray

Pinched or wrong-size paper for the tray

  2. Check the latching of the HCIT, and make sure that both the front and rear latch are fully engaged. Also make sure the brackets that the HCIT is latched to are not damaged or bent. Should the latches be not fully engaged, engage them if possible; otherwise, a problem exists that needs to be fixed.

  3. Inspect the brackets for damage.

  4. Check for a level floor.
