Cloud Authorization Portal: List of Issues for QR Code Usage and Android/IOS & Google Drive

Affected products

in the title section above.

What you will see

These are some of the QR code issues for Android/iOS and Google Drive.

  • Using the native iOS WebView has been observed to fail when it loads the Authorization portal.
  • If Google detects an embedded user-agent during the Google Drive oAuth flow from the Authorization Portal, it will reject the oAuth request.
    NOTE:
This has been observed with both Android and iOS native WebViews.

Explanation

WebViews are not supported. If WebView is used, then the user is probably using a QR code reader app.

Some QR code reader apps have options for launching the web page in a browser instead of a WebView, while other apps don't have this option.

Recommendation

  • From the QR code reader app, launch the page of the QR code in a browser (Chrome or Safari) instead of using WebView.
  • If the QR code reader app does not have an option for launching the page of the QR code in a browser, switch to a different QR code reader app that will open a web browser.
  • Should the issue persist, refrain from using a QR code reader app and launch any browser. Manually input the address or copy the URL of the QR code to the clipboard and paste into the browser's address bar.
