Lexmark XC4150

No black print check

Affected Products:

Single-Function: CS720, CS725, CS727, CS728 and C4150

Multifunction: CX725, CX727, XC4140, XC4143, XC4150 and XC4153

Issue Description:

The print quality depicts no black printing, no grayscale for the most part, only solid color (cyan, magenta, and yellow).

The color prints have no shading and will not appear light but solid or dark in nature unlike if the printer is only missing the black plane. Refer to the KB article

Missing one full color plane.


  1. Open Door B.

    • For single function printers

    • For multifunction printers

  2. Remove the waste toner bottle (WTB).

  3. Remove the imaging kit. Pull the unit out of the device and set on flat surface.

  4. Press on the imaging unit's rear contact found just above the transfer module on the far right side to ensure it springs back out.

  5. Reinstall the imaging kit.

  6. Insert the waste toner bottle then close Door A and Door B.

  7. Perform a test print and check if the issue persists.

  8. If this occurred upon a new install, replace the COLOR imaging kit. Refer to Replacing imaging kit for the steps. Else, perform the troubleshooting found in the KB article Missing one full color plane.
