Printer fails to connect to the network after entering or exiting sleep mode

Issue description

The printer is unable to connect to the network when entering or exiting Sleep mode. When exiting sleep mode, the control panel awakens but network connectivity to the printer is lost.

Solution

Follow the steps below to guide you through waking up the printer.

  1. Press the green or Start button on the control panel. If the printer wakes up, yet is still unreachable over the network, proceed with Step 2.

  2. Power off the printer and power it back on. Observe whether the printer connects back to the network or remains inaccessible.

If the issue persists, proceed with the steps below.

Disable network speed renegotiation, which gets activated when the device enters sleep mode. There are three possible methods to do this:

Note:  This method is preferred for larger printer fleets. This requires printer firmware LW63.##.P746 or later.

Disable renegotiation

DisableEthernetRenegotiaton.zip

Import the .zip file.

Note:

This is an import-only file.

Refer toArticle ID#

Next, and in the order listed....

Download both files:

  1. Send the setOffline.npa file to the printer.

  2. Send nv_GigE_disable.npa. to the printer.

The .npa file can be sent to the printer in the same fashion as a .fls firmware file.
