User-selected ADF source setting fails to revert back to flatbed value for copy function

What you will see

You experience a "Please reload original in ADF and restart job" message after successfully utilizing Image Capture with Scan Source set to Auto Document feeder.

Configuration Scenario

First, you change "Scan Source" value to...

Second, you successfully scan using...

Third, any successive "Copy" job from the flatbed...

Lastly, to alleviate this issue...

Auto document feeder

Image Capture

Results in "Please reload original in ADF and restart job."

You remove any remaining pages from the ADF and change the Scan Source back to flatbed via Image Capture.

Suggested Remedy

Firmware revision .P436 or greater resolves this issue.

To check firmware levels via operator panel:

Press the Menu button on the Operator Panel.

Touch Reports.

Touch Menu Settings Page to start printing.

Look for the code level under “Device Information”.

To check firmware levels via embedded web server (EWS):

Launch your internet browser application.

After http://, enter the printer's IP address.

Click on Reports.

How it works

The Panel Login Timeout value determines how long user-configured workflow settings remain active or cached. The countdown timer starts when you go back to the Home Screen, and any workflow settings return to their default values when the timeout value is reached.
