Change in Internet Printing Protocol (IPP) Endpoint to Certify EC 6.x RIP Firmware of the 2012 Generation of Lexmark Printers

Overview

In order for the EC 6.x RIP firmware releases for the 2012 generation of Lexmark printers to be certified for the most recent version of Airprint, Apple requires the IPP endpoint to be changed from http://<ip address>/ipp to http://<ipaddress>/ipp/print.

Thus, the EC 6.x RIP firmware releases are functioning as redesigned. But in order to avoid any certification issues, you have to use the new IPP endpoint. This document outlines the steps to do this.

Procedure

  1. Click “Start”.

  2. Select "Device and Printers".

  3. Select "Add a printer".

  4. Select "Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer".

  5. Select “The printer that I want isn’t listed”.

  6. Click "Select a shared printer by name".

  7. Enter http://<ipaddress>/ipp/print (Example: http://192.168.0.13/ipp/print)

  8. Select “Next” and follow the rest of the procedure.
