Legal, Officio, & Statement Media Failed to Eject the Hole Punch Unit (HPU) Causing Paper Jam

What you will see

When using any of the following media:

  • Statement – 140 x 216 mm (5.5 x 8.5 in.)
  • Legal – 216 x 356 mm (8.5 x 14 in.)
  • Officio – 216 x 340 mm (8.5 x 13 in.)

The Hole Punch Unit may not be able to fully eject the paper to the output bin, a situation which eventually causes paper jams as seen in the image below.

Recommended solution

A major contributor to this issue is media curl. When curled media exits the Hole Punch Unit, the eject finger only goes under the sheet and may not be able to push it out to the output bin. Over time, the media accumulates in the exit roll and it eventually causes paper jams.

NOTE:
The printer has no settings that can be adjusted to avoid this occurrence. However, you can reduce the effect of curling by using media that is dry and fresh out of a ream. If the media has been sitting in the tray for quite some time, flip it over in the tray before printing it.
