Cloud Reader 2700 becomes unresponsive and unable to authenticate user after a firmware update

What you will see

Upon inserting a smart card into the Cloud 2700 card reader, you observe:

  • Card reader's LED comes ON.
  • Printer does not respond or wake up.
  • No errors are displayed on the device's control panel.
  • Workaround is to reboot the printer or disconnect and then reconnect the reader's USB cable.
  • Behavior was first recognized after upgrading firmware to LHS42.TQ.P505.
  • Issue is also seen with the SCR310 card reader, but less frequently than with the Cloud 2700 card reader.

This issue was originally seen on the X954 MFP equipped with the Cloud 2700 smart card reader; however, other printer models have also shown this behavior.
