Dark bands and light printing after imaging unit is replaced

Issue Description

After the Imaging Unit is replaced or removed from the printer and returned, the images you print appear light and have dark bands.

Note:  The photoconductor units experiencing light exposure cause this issue. It will most likely occur on a new photoconductor unit after being exposed to light and not immediately used and installed.

Solution

This issue should autocorrect itself once the imaging unit has been put back into the printer. A time delay (give it one day) in reprinting the image fixes the issue. The time to correct is generally short for an installation unless an open imaging unit basket is left outside the printer for several days exposed to light and not covered, it could then take a few days to recover and correct this issue.

  1. Determine which color is having the issue by printing the “Print Quality Samples.” To do this from the Control Panel, navigate through Settings > Report > Print Quality Pages.

  2. Print multiple pages and check whether the Print Quality issue dissipates, as in the images above.

  3. Perform a "Color Adjust" by navigating through Print > Quality > Advanced Imaging > Color Adjust > Start, and print a test page.

Note:  Color Adjust can be performed from the control panel or the embedded web server (EWS).
