Faded black print check

Issue description

A print quality issue where black prints have a washed out look, while color images appear to be okay.

The print depicts black prints likely have a top to bottom fade in text areas, or solid areas show a quick top to bottom fade.

Solution

  1. Open door B. Click the link below to see image on how to open door B.

  2. Remove the WasteToner Bottle.

  3. Unlock the Transfer Module then remove the imaging kit.

  4. Open door A. Click the link below to see image on how to open door A.

    Note: Hot surface! The inside of the printer is hot. To reduce the risk of injury from a hot component, allow the surface to cool before touching it.

  5. Unlatch the transfer module (left side – gray finger tab), carefully remove it and set on a flat surface.

  6. Press the third contact (A) for the transfer module found just below the 3rd Oldham coupler to ensure it is present and springs back into place. Click here to view image.

  7. Reinstall the transfer module, the imaging kit and toner cartridges. Make sure to lock the transfer module into place and the imaging unit. Insert the waste toner bottle then close Door A and Door B.

  8. Perform a test print and check if the issue persists. If this issue occurred upon a new install, replace the Transfer Module.
