The printer detects but does not utilize the 4-Bin mailbox output option

Issue description

The print output will only go out to the standard output bin even though a 4-Bin Mailbox Output Option has been properly installed and the printer appears to detect it.

Make sure the option is installed properly. See the video tutorial on How to install the 4-bin mailbox option.

Check if the printer detects the option as being installed by printing the Menu Settings Pages or accessing the printer’s Embedded Web Server (EWS). To do this:

  • Using Menu Settings Pages:

From the printer’s Control Panel, navigate through: Settings > Reports > Menu Settings Pages. Note: Look for the 4-bin mailbox option under “Installed Features”.

  • Using Embedded Web Server (EWS)

Open a browser and enter the printer’s IP address. Navigate through: Settings > Reports > Device Settings > Look for “Installed Features”.

Should the 4-bin mailbox option be seen as part of the installed features, yet the print output will only go out to the Standard Output Bin, please contact Lexmark Technical Support for further troubleshooting suggestions.

Isolate the issue by removing any DLE card installed in the printer. Should issue remain even with DLE removed, proceed with Step 2.

Determine if issue is either hardware of Software related by running the appropriate printer tests below:

  • Boot the printer to Normal mode and navigate through: Settings > Paper Menu > Bin Set Up > Output Bin > change from Standard to desired Bin (1, 2, 3, 4) and print any printer internal page (i.e., Menu Settings Pages)
  • Boot to Diagnostics Menu and navigate to: Output Bin Test > Feed To All Bins
  • Boot to Diagnostics Menu and navigate to: Output Bin Test > Feed Test > test both Single and Continuous for all four bins

If these tests won't work on the device in question; i.e., the print output will still only go through the standard output bin, see Step 3.

Should the issue remain unchanged after following Steps 1 to 3, please consult your next level of support before setting up additional service.
