Remedy 1

Determine whether the printer's current firmware level is lower (<) than .P413c.

If so, update the printer's firmware.
Return to your printer's product page to locate and download the latest firmware package.

After downloading the zip file, extract its contents to a destination folder and then select your update method.
Firmware download package contents usually include:
- .fls file required for non-Windows environments or non-standard connection methods
- Firmware Update Utility package to guide users through the firmware update process in Microsoft™ Windows operating system environment

IMPORTANT! Look for the presence of any downloadable language emulators (DLEs). Click here for an example illustration. Contact Lexmark technical support if you see the presence of any IPDS, forms and a bar code cards, Prescribe, PrintCryption, or other types of DLE option cards.
Remedy 2
Contact Lexmark Technical Support for further instructions. It is possible that you may receive a replacement card if a firmware upgrade option is not available.
Checking firmware levels
Obtain the Menu Settings page or access the printer's embedded web server (EWS) for this purpose. To do this from the printer's operator panel:
1 | Press the Menu button on the Operator Panel. |
2 | Select Reports. |
3 | Select Menu Settings Page to start printing. |
4 | Look for the code level under “Device Information” and next to Base and Engine. |
To do this from the printer's embedded web server(EWS):
1 | Launch your Internet browser application. |
2 | After http://, enter the printer's IP address. |
3 | Click on Reports. |
4 | Click on Device Information and locate the values next to Base and Engine. |

Alternative Solution

Revert device firmware back to the EC1; for example, LW1.DN2.P153.

Reinstall the parallel card to verify that the card is listed once with the proper code levels displayed; i.e., P311e or less.

Send .P311f or greater parallel firmware code to the printer if you can still obtain this code from PE.

Post flashing of the parallel card firmware, and after the device reboots, you can continue to update the printer's firmware to the latest levels; i.e., EC3 or greater.
