Single Page Print Jobs Feed Through the Duplex Path

What you will see

When printing a single page document, the job goes through the duplex path and the Media Picked Side count increases by two (2).

PRECONDITIONS: This happens with the Driver and Printer’s Duplex settings turned ON, and a duplex-able paper type selected.

Functioning as designed

The behavior described above is expected. Should you prefer to have a single page document feed through the simplex path even with the duplex mode turned on, make sure to set the Paper Type on the printer to Plain Paper.

NOTE:
This setting is found under Menu > Paper Menu > Paper Size/Type.

Explanation

The printer firmware treats a single page document with Plain paper type setting as a special case. With this setting, the printer will force the print job down the simplex path to improve printer performance.

IMPORTANT! If any other duplex-able paper type is selected, then the single page document will still go down the duplex path.

Please refer to your printer User’s Guide to view duplex-supported paper types.
