Note:

  1. Check for any paper that is curled down or up. Note: The paper defect can be caused by

    Improper paper storage

    which could lead to a

    wavy paper

and can cause the paper to curl

    down

    or

    up

    in the tray.

    • If the paper is curled down or up, try a new ream of paper, or flip the existing stack over on the opposite side, and then perform another print test.

    • If there is no issue with the paper, proceed to Step 3.

  2. Check the following, relating to paper, tray loading, and general operation:

  • Is the paper weight and type within specification?

  • Is the paper level in the tray is below max fill line?

  • Are the tray size-guides set to correct media size and not too loose or tight?

  • Is the printer's location within it environmental operating specifications?

  • Is the paper being stored in an area and free from debris and humidity?

Note:
Check the printer’s User’s Guide under the section Paper and specialty media guide.

  • If the paper/printer is within their respective specifications, and the tray is being loaded properly then

    Fan

the paper, reload it and perform another print test. If the issue persists, proceed to Step 4.

  • If the paper/printer is not within their respective specifications, perform the following:

    • Use only recommended paper or specialty media. For more information, please check the printer’s User’s Guide under the section Paper and specialty media guide.

    • Check the tray's capacity limit. Common limits are 250, 500, 1000 and 2000 sheets depending on printer configuration.

    • The tray's side and rear guides so they secure the paper in position but not pinch paper.

    • Make sure the sheets lie flat in the tray. Click here for the

  1. Remove the paper tray, lower the pick arm assembly and check the condition of the pick tires for excessive wear or contamination.

    • If the pick tires does have excessive wear and contamination, then proceed to the Still Need Help section of this article.

    • If the pick tires are okay, proceed to Step 5.

  2. With the paper tray still out of the printer, check the tray's rear paper-size restraint guide for any damage.

This can result in sheets jumping over the restraint guide.

    • If the restraint guide is damaged or not,

      Still Need Help

      section of this article.
